After years of asking permission and leasing, I finally signed on my own 10 acres of property today!! I got my oldest out of daycare so I freed up some money that I could use for the payments. It's not a lot, but it's enough for me and my son when he gets old enough.

It took the last month to finalize everything, and I am leaving for salmon season Friday morning, so I dont have time to go out and put tree stands up till the end of the month, but it will be well worth the wait!

It's just a nice feeling to know I have something I can call my OWN!!

Hey guys. On my above mentioned 2000 Cherokee Sport, the latch on the back hatch will no longer open. It's been acting up for quite some time, but now acts as if it's stuck in the locked position.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, do you have any advice? I've thought about just going to the boneyard and getting a used latch, but at this point I can't even get the darn thing open to replace it, and frankly would probably have a hard time doing so if I did get it open. If I was a little richer I'd just drop it off at the body shop and say "Fix it!"

Thanks in advance......Sid

CINCINNATI, Ohio (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - One man is recovering after being shot three times with a bow and arrow and police believe it was a revenge attack for kicking another man out of his home.

Detectives in Cincinnati, Ohio say the victim had let an old friend stay at his home for a couple days but they got in an argument and he told him to leave.

That's when the man returned with a bow and arrow and started shooting the victim while he slept on the couch.

"He felt him get hit in the back and he rolled over and seen him and that's when he felt the second shot and the third one he was actually putting his hand up to defend and it shot him through the hand," said Chief William Peskin of the Elmwood Place Police Dept.

The victim suffered a collapsed lung and one of the arrows came dangerously close to his spine, but he is expected to recover.

Police are still searching for the shooter.

I recently needed to have my old garage door replaced. It really wasn't very old, but the top 2 panels were ruined - not really sure what caused it. Anyhow, I did a search on here, and came up with an old thread for garage doors, and called POLARBEAR to come give me a quote. He was quick, and gave a very reasonable quote for a new door, and new opener (my old opener came with the house when I bought it, 22 years ago). He explained to me that the door I got from Home Depot was pretty light duty, and he would replace it with a much heavier duty door. When the door was in, he scheduled the installation within a couple days, and knocked the job out in a few hours. Works like a charm, and the entire cost was about the same as I paid for the crappy door I had to replace, which was purchased about 6 or 7 years before.
Kudos to Darrin (POLARBEAR) from this site - thank you for an outstanding job, and great service. I highly recommend him if anyone needs a new garage door. It is so nice to be able to open and close the door, again.

Anti-Cruelty Society Worker Shot on Detroit's East Side
Updated: Thursday, 02 Sep 2010, 11:04 PM EDT
Published : Thursday, 02 Sep 2010, 5:45 PM EDT

By TARYN ASHER
myFOXDetroit.com

DETROIT - It all started when Detroit Police went to check out a house that allegedly doubled as a chop shop and realized it was protected by pit bulls.

Neighbor Terrence King told us cars have been coming in and out on a regular basis.

Finally, Detroit Police investigated what neighbors, such as King, suspected all along; the people who live in a house on Fairport may have been stealing cars and selling their parts and were using three pit bulls to keep the curious away.

"I have to go around the block because I don't want to be bothered with them because they (jump) out at me, too," said James Adams.

Detroit Police needed to remove the dogs, so they called the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society. While the rescuers were setting traps for the three pit bulls, one got loose and started running towards a police officer. That's when, we're told, she pulled her gun and fired off twelve rounds.

King was watching.

"The police pulled a gun out and shot, but she missed the dog. I guess she was scared or something, and she hit the animal control person," he said.

One animal rescue worker took a bullet in the back of the leg. Another grazed his back side. A stray bullet also clipped his co-worker's boot.

It's not clear if the pit bull was hit because it got away and is still on the loose.

"They need to go back to the range and learn how to shoot accurately, that's what I think," King said.

Only one of the Anti-Cruelty rescue workers had to be rushed to the hospital. He's expected to be okay.

It's a different story for the dogs. One dog they were able to trap is said to be sick with mange and is severely wounded from dog fighting injuries. It had to be euthanized.

Neighbors claim they have been complaining about these dogs for months.

"It is what it is. You're in Detroit. You see and hear a lot of (explertative), but when you (have) police that don't do their job, this (explerative) (is) going to keep on going on," said neighbor Tasha Thomas.

As for the Detroit Police officer who fired the shots, we're told Internal Affairs is still investigating her actions.

I have an old sears walk behind mower, probably from the early 1970's. The only identification I can find is the serial number plate which reads "131-97524", and right below that it reads "Mention G"

I'm trying to find some type of owners manual, or at a minimum, what spark plug should go in it. The old one that came out of it had NO identification on it, and the new ones that we tried to match up and put in it are only good for about 5 minutes, which I'm assuming is whan it is getting to hot.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Geez I can't believe this day!

First day of school for my son and it starts out at 7:00 a.m. with the dog getting sprayed by a skunk. Spend a good bit of time trying to de-stink him. About 2:45 my son gets home from school and asks me if I can take him the the skate park. OK no problem. We're getting ready to leave and I hear the unmistakable sound of a dead Ash coming down. I knew it was out in my woods somewhere but it was so windy out that I wasn't about to go investigate at that point. I looked as best I could from the house but couldn't see anything. Took him to the skate park and when I got back a little bit ago it was a little bit more calm out there so I decided to take a quick look. The stupid thing reduced my fishing boat to about $20 worth of SCRAP.:rant::rant:

Can this day get any better?

John
