Why can't you donate the meat to a soup kitchen? I don't fish carp but I caught one a few years back and my father in law took it and ate it. He said it was good. I like to outdoors too but the thought of shooting fish only to dump them somewhere don't sit well with me.

I'm starting to sound more like my parents now that I'm a dad but it's true, many other people would be appalled by the amount of food we waste. I know a number of people who would know what to do with those fish other than turning them into compost or putting them in a ditch. Fish that don't make it out alive in tourneys get donated, be a good sportsman and do the same with your carp.

if i lived in a big town i would......we recycle the fish at tournies...we have a guy come up from Indiana and he makes fertilizer out of it... no soup kitchen can handle the amount of carp we shoot...they would need 200 refrigerators

I hate to kill something that I'm not going to eat also, but the thing about carp is they are an invasive species. Just like gobies or sea lamprey, so there's no need to feel bad about not eating them, their bad for the environment, and now we have the asian carp getting into the great lakes. Because of the toxins levels in carp I doubt that soup kitchens would be allowed to give them even to a hobo.

People be serious, if you shot a bunch of Rats, would you eat them or donate them to a soup kitchen.

Turn them into fertilizer or landfill

Default But before its done...

those of you still unsure of what to do with the fish, please notice that I said I could use some carp for my mink line this fall. Please pm me and I will pick them up if within 75 miles. Hopefully, this small solution will help some to choose to bowfish them. There really is an overabundance.

We used to fill a canoe with carp each time we went bowfishing. We would store them in sealed 55 gallon drums and had a couple bear guides from the U.P who would come down every week or two and take them back up there for bear bait. Let me tell you though after a few weeks in the hot sun of summer you did not dare open the drum. The guide would tell us by the time he opened them it was just liquid and a few small bones!
